Is Underarm Sweating Knocking Your Confidence?

Excessive underarm sweating can be most embarrassing because it is the location where it is most noticeable. So what can be done to stop this condition? There are many different over the counter remedies that you can try; one way is to get a stronger deodorant. There are more effective brands out on the market like Secret, Degree and Right Guard.

There are some people that sweat more than others so they may need more protection. Excessive underarm sweating is called Auxiliary Hyperhidrosis in the medical field. There are other treatments such as patting some cornstarch under the arms before you get dressed. It can be used in addition to deodorant. So people take Odor Eaters and cut them out and tape them underneath their arms to stop from sweating.

Here are a few remedies that you may have not tried. Before you go to bed at night, take a shower and put on deodorant as you normally would. Then before you leave the house apply the deodorant again. This will start sealing in the sweat and there will be fewer odors. This may sound crazy but drink 8 glasses of water a day. By keeping hydrated it is a good way to stave off sweating.

There are hundreds of websites that offer sure fire ways to stop sweating. But what really is disturbing is that there are people writing articles who are not in medical field who are recommending medical procedures such as ETS or Endoscopic Transthoracic Sympathectomy. They claim this surgery or procedure can stop sweat glands from producing sweat.

But you need to sweat, when you sweat it is your body's way of telling you that your body needs to ventilate. Some call it the body's air conditioner; the body would have no way of cooling down if there were no sweat glands to cool off the body. So any surgery that recommends removing sweat glands should be discussed with your doctor first.

When you read articles like this one and others like it, you have to remember that the remedies that are offered here are simple over the counter help and some are home remedies but the people that write these articles are not doctors and if you have a serious problem with sweaty underarms then talk to your doctor first. They may know about a product that you may not have heard of or perhaps a prescription they could recommend.

Sweaty underarms is common, if it weren't there wouldn't be any deodorant. But severe sweating can be a glandular problem or if you are nervous person as it is, it can be a contributing factor. Talk to your doctor and see what they recommend before you set off on a medical procedure. In general, wear loose clothing and stay hydrated, these work if you give them a chance to. You can't expect a miracle to work overnight. Anything you try, you have to give it time.
