Vicks Vapor Rub Used For Toenail Fungus Doesn't Work

Every single one of the thirty five million people who currently have onychomycosis, (nail fungus infection) want desperately to get rid of it. The great majority of those people have tried several different treatments and have failed to get rid of the fungus permanently. Part of the problem is that there are so many reports from so called experts that tell us how amazing a certain home remedy is for nail fungus treatment. The great majority of these just don't work. So how is Vicks Vapor Rub used for toenail fungus? Is it effective?

The answer is yes and no. Mostly no. Doctors are not sure about what exactly is the active ingredient in Vicks that has an effect on the fungus, they just know there is one. Many people who have used it to treat their onychomycosis saw an intial benefit. However, very few or none of them saw any long lasting benefits. In all cases, the fungus came back.

Onychomycosis is very difficult to treat because of two factors. One, the nail provides a food source for the fungi that allows it to thrive for years. Two, the nail shelters the fungus at the same time. Treating it successfully means getting enough fungus killing power to the infection without risking damaging side effects to the skin or internal body.

While Vicks Vapor Rub used for toenail fungus is mostly ineffective, there are ways to accomplish this at home. The most effective way is by using a dual treatment method which allows you to double up on the fungus killers without causing more harm.
