The reason that fad diets are considered bad is because these diets do not address the root cause of the weight gain. If you do not know or learn why eating some foods is bad, you are bound to regain all the weight you lost through your fad diet. In addition, fad diets make people give foods that are healthy and have nothing wrong with them; while some fad diets require people to pop pills and drink potions which only make your bank account lighter and not your weight.
What is a fad diet? It is a trendy diet that promises people fast results through easy methods. Not doubt these diets are very tempting because losing weight can be a real pain but invariably the diets are all hype and may cause you more harm than good.
Any diet that promises you weight loss without counting your calories or doing exercise is a fad diet. In addition, these diets tend to force people to take dietary supplements like so-called fat burners or metabolism boosters; they you to combine certain foods together to aid proper digestion; they do not advocate exercises; and usually ask people to eliminate certain food groups from their diet because they are bad. If you happen come across a diet like this, make sure you take the fastest and shortest route away from it.
These diets are only effective in helping you lose weight in short term. In a few weeks time, you will regain all the weight as you will fall back to your old eating habits. This weight loss and subsequent weight gain is extremely unhealthy and may cause many diseases like elevated blood pressure or coronary heart disease.
If you see any advertisement advertising fad diets, refrain from being sucked in. Nonetheless, there are certain fad diets that have been scientifically proven to be healthy. These are Mediterranean diet, low-fat diet and low-carb diet. However, most scientific research only tell us the short term effects of these diets since long term effects were not studied. But these diets have their good points but you will have to eliminate certain healthy foods like complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber and essential fatty acids from your diet.
